Malcolm Timothy Gladwell (born September 3, 1963) is a Canadian journalist, author, and public speaker. He has been a staff writer for The New Yorker since 1996 and is the author of several best-selling books that explore social science topics and human behavior.
Early Life and Education
Gladwell was born in Fareham, Hampshire, England, to a Jamaican mother and an English father. At the age of six, he moved with his family to Elmira, Ontario, Canada. He graduated with a degree in History from the University of Toronto in 1984.
Career
Gladwell began his journalism career at The American Spectator and later worked as a science writer for The Washington Post. In 1996, he joined The New Yorker, where he has written extensively on topics such as sociology, psychology, and social issues.
